Artist

Kara is interested in the mundane and overlooked; things that others may not find interesting, and looks at ways to reinvent what she collects and observes. She works with materials in an intuitive way to reflect her concepts and thoughts and often considers combinations of unorthodox materials. Incorporating these materials into personal narratives, peripheral observations and fleeting memories, Kara finds ways to express impermanence. Kara explores the themes of hiraeth, longing, identity, nostalgia and the fleeting nature of time.

With a background in art, design and landscape architecture, Kara has an affinity towards the three dimensional and her work has a sculptural quality. Her background has fueled her connection with and appreciation of the landscape, the three dimensional holistic world and the perspective of our place as a small speck within in.
